We make moving abroad less overwhelming
ExpatStarterGuide was built because navigating a foreign country's bureaucracy without guidance is genuinely hard — and the cost of mistakes is high.
The problem we're solving
Every country has different rules for address registration, health insurance, banking, visa requirements, and tax obligations. The information exists — but it's scattered across government websites in foreign languages, buried in expat forums, and frequently outdated. Most people learn what they needed to do only after they've already paid a fine or missed a deadline.
How we help
ExpatStarterGuide consolidates country-specific bureaucratic guidance into one personalised, step-by-step guide. Our 5-step onboarding wizard captures your situation — nationality, destination, family status, employment type — and generates a checklist tailored specifically to you.
An EU citizen moving to Germany for a job sees different tasks than a non-EU freelancer moving to Spain with a family and pets. Because the right information at the right time changes everything.
What we cover
Each country guide contains up to 19 sections covering everything from emergency numbers and public holidays to visa pathways, tax systems, education, citizenship, and pet relocation. Free sections cover the essentials. Premium sections (unlocked with a single one-time €19 supporter contribution covering every country) go deeper into the complex, high-stakes areas.

We currently provide detailed guides for 120 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. Our Germany guide is the most comprehensive, with full coverage of all 19 sections. We are actively expanding full data to additional countries.
