Very relatable problem and one that mostly solves itself through the same channel for both of you: school and neighbourhood activities tend to build the kids' network and your own adult network in parallel, since you'll meet other parents through exactly the same events. Local sports clubs, school events, and library programmes for kids are often the fastest on-ramp for younger children specifically, more so than anything you can arrange top-down as a parent.

Feeling a bit stuck on this one — I want to help my kids build a social life here, but I'm also brand new and don't have the local network to plug them into anything yet. Chicken and egg problem.
