How do you help kids make friends when you don't know anyone either?

Very relatable problem and one that mostly solves itself through the same channel for both of you: school and neighbourhood activities tend to build the kids' network and your own adult network in parallel, since you'll meet other parents through exactly the same events. Local sports clubs, school events, and library programmes for kids are often the fastest on-ramp for younger children specifically, more so than anything you can arrange top-down as a parent.

The chicken-and-egg problem is so real, following for ideas myself.

Joined the school parents’ association, which felt genuinely awkward at first as someone brand new — but it was the most direct route to other families with kids the same age.

Signed the kids up for a sports club before I really knew anyone locally — let them build their own network faster than I could have arranged one for them.
