Polish at home, English at nursery. Our toddler mixes both in the same sentence and somehow we all understand.

Our kids are picking up the local language fast at school, which is wonderful, but they're already answering us in it at home and losing words in our mother tongue. Keeping the home language going takes real discipline. Did you push it, and did your kids thank you later — or resent it at the time?
