Doing this as a single parent — anyone else, and how do you handle it without local family support?

The logistics of this move as a single parent are hitting differently than I expected — no local grandparents for emergency pickup, no built-in support network, just me figuring out every logistical curveball alone. Would love to hear from anyone else doing this solo.

Some cities have a local "befriending" or buddy scheme aimed at newcomers specifically — worth checking if yours does, even if it's not parent-specific.

From an older generation: don’t underestimate how willing neighbours often are to help if actually asked directly. We assume people don’t want to be bothered far more than they mind.

Following, this whole thread is a good reminder to check in on a solo-parent friend of mine more often.

Another small update — the nursery WhatsApp group Anna mentioned earlier has genuinely become the backbone of how I get through a bad week now. Small thing, big difference.
