Switched from the app to something social — a regular meetup — once the burnout hit. Reignited it in a way solo study never could have.
Started strong — daily app streak, a weekly class, genuinely excited. Around month six that all collapsed. The app became a chore, I started dreading class, and I've now gone almost three weeks without opening anything language-related on purpose.
I don't think I've lost interest exactly. It feels more like the initial novelty wore off and what's left is just... slow, unglamorous repetition, which is a lot less motivating than the early "look how much I've learned" phase.
Has anyone hit this wall and actually recovered from it, rather than just quietly giving up? What got you re-engaged — a different method, a lower-pressure goal, something social? Trying to figure out if I push through or change approach entirely before I lose the six months of progress I've already made.
