Went through this with our older dog too. What helped most was a pre-travel vet visit specifically to talk through anxiety management options for the journey itself, well before travel day — not something we'd have thought to ask about proactively, our vet raised it. Also getting him fully comfortable in the actual travel crate for weeks beforehand at home made a bigger difference than I expected.

Our dog is older and gets anxious even with normal car trips, so I'm dreading the actual travel day for our move more than almost anything else in this whole process. Anyone brought an anxious or elderly pet through a long-haul move and have tips that genuinely helped?
