Spent weeks refreshing for an appointment and now I have one. Terrified of turning up and being turned away for a missing form. What do you wish you'd brought / known walking into the appointment?

Bring originals AND a copy of everything — they nearly always keep a copy, and it's always the one document you only brought the original of. A cheap folder of copies saves the day.

Arrive early. The queue is the real appointment, and being near the front means a calmer, less rushed officer. Small thing, big difference.

Re-check the exact document list for YOUR specific category the night before — sub-categories ask for different things and the generic list online isn't always yours. Ten minutes that avoids a wasted slot.

Copies of everything + arrive early + check my exact category. That's my night-before checklist now. Thanks — feeling much less terrified.
