MI ARGENTINA App + DNI Digital
The official Argentine government app (Mi Argentina) enables access to digital DNI, health credentials, digital passport, and over 100 government services. The DNI Digital (Documento Nacional de Identidad digital) within the app is legally recognised as an identity document for most purposes within Argentina.
How to get it: Download "Mi Argentina" from App Store or Google Play. Register with your CUIL number and email. Verify identity by uploading DNI photo or via facial recognition at a RENAPER kiosk. The DNI Digital is added to your app wallet. Also available: Libreta de Vacunación digital, credencial previsional, and driving licence (licencia digital).
E-Government Portal
https://www.argentina.gob.arArgentina's digital government infrastructure has improved significantly. AFIP online is functional and widely used. TAD (Trámites a Distancia) allows many immigration and government procedures to be initiated online. Buenos Aires City has an excellent digital platform (buenosaires.gob.ar) for city-level services. However, for immigration documents and RENAPER matters, in-person appointments are still often required. The Mi Argentina app is essential — download it immediately upon obtaining your CUIL.

Mobile operators: Claro, Movistar, and Personal — all offer competitive prepaid plans (ARS 15,000–40,000/month for unlimited data in 2026). A local SIM card is essential from day one — many government services (AFIP, ANSeS) require SMS verification to an Argentine number. Purchase a SIM at any Claro/Movistar/Personal store with your DNI or passport. WhatsApp is the de facto communications standard — have it set up before you arrive.
