Permanent residency in the Dominican Republic is available through two broad routes. Fast-track categories receive permanent residency directly: (1) Pensionado — minimum USD 1,500/month verified pension income; (2) Rentista — minimum USD 2,000/month verified investment or rental income; (3) Investor — minimum USD 200,000 qualifying investment in Dominican business, real estate or government bonds. Standard route: foreign nationals without a qualifying income/investment category must complete approximately 5 years of temporary residence before applying for permanent status.
