Georgian ID Card / e-Passport
Georgian citizens have a biometric ID card (also usable as a travel document within certain countries) with embedded chip. Residence permit holders receive a biometric residence card from CRA. There is no equivalent of Germany's AusweisApp2 eID for non-citizens, but the residence permit card is used for in-person identification.
How to get it: Georgian ID card: issued to Georgian citizens at CRA. Residence permit card: issued to permit holders at CRA. Expats without a permit use their national passport for all identification purposes.
E-Government Portal
https://my.gov.gemy.gov.ge is a well-designed portal — one of the better government digital portals in the South Caucasus region. Available in Georgian and English (some sections English-only partial). Requires Georgian phone number for SMS authentication. Most document services accept payment by Georgian bank card (TBC, BOG Visa/Mastercard). Revenue Service (rs.ge): separate portal for all tax-related services. Register here to: file tax returns, check tax balance, apply for Small Business Status, obtain tax residency certificate, pay outstanding taxes. Available in Georgian and English (partial). TaxAdmin mobile app provides mobile access. NAPR (napr.gov.ge): property and company registry. Critically important for due diligence before property purchase or when contracting with Georgian companies. Property extract shows any mortgages, encumbrances, or disputes — always check before transacting. Pension Agency (pensions.ge): individual pension account management. Login to check balance, change investment portfolio, and review contribution history.

TBC SPACE
FreeTBC Bank's super-app — covers banking (accounts, transfers, payments), a marketplace for buying/selling goods, services (utility payments, mobile top-up, insurance), credit products, and lifestyle features (event tickets, transport). Used by millions in Georgia. English language. The single most useful app for daily life in Tbilisi.
BOG App (Bank of Georgia)
FreeBank of Georgia's mobile banking app — English language, highly rated. Instant GEL, USD, EUR transfers between Georgian accounts; SWIFT international transfers; bill payments; BOG Pay contactless payments. Useful as a secondary banking app alongside TBC SPACE.
Bolt
FreeDominant ride-hailing app in Georgia (Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Rustavi). Set up Bolt before or on arrival — city rides 5–10 GEL, airport 15–30 GEL. Also Bolt Food for restaurant delivery. Works with Georgian and international phone numbers.
Yandex Go
FreeSecond-largest ride-hailing app in Georgia. More useful outside Tbilisi and in areas with lower Bolt coverage. Accepts Georgian bank cards and cash. Some privacy concerns for users — alternative to Bolt.
Glovo
FreeFood delivery in Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutaisi. Wide restaurant selection. Competes with Bolt Food. Accepts Georgian and international Visa/Mastercard.

SS.ge
FreeGeorgia's most important classifieds portal. The go-to site for: renting/buying apartments, buying/selling cars, finding jobs in Georgia, and general goods. Available in Georgian and partial English. Essential for finding housing — most Tbilisi landlords list on SS.ge.
Myhome.ge
FreeProperty-focused portal for residential sales and rentals. Clean interface, English available. Good complement to SS.ge for property search.
TaxAdmin
FreeOfficial Revenue Service mobile app. Check your tax account balance, view filed returns, pay outstanding taxes, and access Georgian tax filing portal. Available in Georgian (limited English). Essential for any expat with Georgian tax obligations.
Magti One / Silknet App
FreeMagti and Silknet both have self-service apps for managing mobile accounts, data top-ups, and viewing usage. Useful for monitoring data consumption and purchasing add-ons without visiting a branch.
Wolt
FreeEuropean food delivery platform with strong Tbilisi presence. Wider selection of premium restaurant partners than some competitors. English language, Georgian bank cards accepted.
Telasi App
FreeTbilisi electricity provider Telasi has a mobile app and web portal (telasi.ge) for checking account balance, submitting meter readings, and paying bills. Useful to set up immediately on taking over an electricity account.
Wise (TransferWise)
FreeEssential for expats receiving foreign-currency income or sending money internationally. Works with Georgian bank accounts (TBC, BOG). Competitive exchange rates and low fees for international transfers. No restrictions on Wise use in Georgia.
maps.me / OsmAnd
FreeOffline mapping apps essential for mountain areas of Georgia (Kazbegi, Svaneti, Borjomi) where mobile data coverage is unreliable. Download Georgia offline maps before any mountain trip. Google Maps works well in Tbilisi but offline capability is critical for rural/mountain Georgia.
VPN (NordVPN / ExpressVPN / Mullvad)
PaidVPNs are freely available and legal in Georgia. Used by expats for: security on public WiFi, streaming home-country Netflix/BBC iPlayer/etc., and maintaining privacy. Not required for any Georgian services. Monthly cost: 5–15 USD. No restrictions on VPN use.
Georgia is a digitally progressive country with excellent mobile infrastructure. 4G/5G coverage in Tbilisi and major cities is excellent (Magti, Silknet). Rural coverage: 4G available in most towns; mountain areas (Kazbegi, Svaneti) have patchy coverage. Satellite internet (Starlink) is available in Georgia for remote-area residents. Mobile payment ecosystem: Georgia has a relatively mature mobile payment system (TBC Pay, BOG Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay) compared to its regional neighbours. Contactless payment is widely accepted in urban areas. Internet speeds: Tbilisi home fibre (Silknet, Magticom): 50–200 Mbps for 30–60 GEL/month. Coworking spaces: 100–300 Mbps dedicated. Coffee shop WiFi: variable, typically 10–50 Mbps. Adequate for video calls and remote work in most Tbilisi locations. Government digital services: Georgia consistently ranks well in e-Government development indices — the World Bank and OECD cite Georgia as an emerging digital government leader in the region. Most document services that once required in-person visits are now available online or via my.gov.ge.
