Nigeria (NG)

Required for visa application, CERPAC processing, bank KYC, SIM registration and security/hotel checks.

Use the correct visa class for your purpose; short-visit e-Visas obtained via the Nigeria Immigration Service portal do not authorise employment.

Required for employer-sponsored foreign workers under the ordinary expatriate quota route managed by the Ministry of Interior. Quota approval precedes the work visa stage.

Required for the R2A employment visa, CERPAC regularisation and e-CERPAC processes with the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card (CERPAC), now issued as the biometric e-CERPAC card, is the main residence and work authorisation document for eligible long-stay expatriates.

TIN registered with the Joint Tax Board (JTB); required for PAYE registration, business contracts, banking KYC and company setup.

Required for visa application, employer files and professional council registration (COREN for engineers, MDCN for doctors, etc.). Nigeria uses English as its official language; non-English documents must be accompanied by a certified English translation.

International Certificate of Vaccination (ICV/Yellow Card) is required by law for entry into Nigeria and is commonly checked at airports and for regional travel within West Africa.

May be required by the employer, visa route, school admissions or landlord. Nigeria is NOT a member of the Hague Apostille Convention; foreign police clearances must be authenticated by the Nigerian embassy or consulate in the issuing country rather than by apostille.

Required for dependant visas, school enrolment, benefits and emergency plans. Nigeria is NOT a Hague Apostille member; foreign certificates require authentication by the Nigerian embassy/consulate in the country of origin. Non-English documents need certified translation.

Foreign licences are recognised for short-term driving when accompanied by a valid International Driving Permit (IDP). For longer-term residents, obtain a Nigerian driving licence through the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC). Contact FRSC for conversion procedures and licence-class requirements.

Required for importing dogs or cats into Nigeria. A valid rabies vaccination certificate, veterinary health certificate and import permit from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture are required. Confirm current quarantine requirements with the airline and the Department of Veterinary and Pest Control Services.
