Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman (WORC) runs the JobsCayman portal, where registered employers post vacancies — every vacancy in Cayman should be advertised there, and it is the channel WORC staff and boards use to track applications. As of 2026 WORC urges all job seekers to register regardless of seniority. Even as a work-permit holder it is the best single view of the market, and employers also use it to pay WORC fees.

From 1 January 2026, the standard minimum wage is CI$8.75/hour. Service, live-in domestic, and commission calculations have specific rules.

Plan for the absence of a public safety net

The Cayman Islands has no unemployment benefit, no state pension for expatriates and no public financial assistance for work-permit holders. The Department of Financial Assistance (formerly the Needs Assessment Unit, reformed by the Financial Assistance Act 2022) only supports Caymanians, spouses of Caymanians and guardians of Caymanian dependents who have been resident at least 8 of the previous 12 months. If you lose your job, your work permit — and your right to remain — normally ends with it. Your safety net is entirely private: emergency savings, insurance and your employer-based pension and health cover.
