- ✓ Learn German — even basic German proficiency dramatically improves social integration. The Alemannic dialect is used daily but standard German is always acceptable and understood.

Despite its tiny size, Liechtenstein has a vibrant sports culture. Football, skiing, athletics, and hiking are the most popular. FC Vaduz, the national football club, competes in the Swiss football league (Super League) — the only club from another country to do so regularly. Liechtenstein has no national football league of its own.

Exceptional — hiking trails through the Alps, Rhine cycle paths, Nordic ski trails at Malbun, via ferrata climbing routes. The Liechtenstein Trail (Liechtensteinweg) — a 75km hiking route through all 11 municipalities — is a must-do. Free access to all trails.
Hallenbad Vaduz (indoor swimming pool) and Freibad (outdoor pool in summer) in Vaduz and Schaan. Also accessible in Feldkirch (Austria) and Buchs (Switzerland). Swiss/Austrian sports facilities are commonly used by Liechtenstein residents due to proximity.

Volunteering is highly valued in Liechtenstein. The fire brigade (Feuerwehr) is one of the most important volunteer organisations — every municipality has one and volunteers are respected members of the community. Volunteering demonstrates integration commitment and is looked upon favourably for residence and citizenship purposes.
