Liechtenstein (LI)
Liechtenstein is a tiny constitutional principality nestled between Switzerland and Austria — one of only two doubly landlocked countries in the world — yet it punches far above its 39,000-person weight as one of the wealthiest nations on earth per capita.
Digital Services
Digital ID, e-government and essential apps in Liechtenstein.
eID Liechtenstein (via FL-eID / eGov Portal)
Liechtenstein's eGovernment identity system allows residents to access government services online through the eservice.llv.li portal using their Ausländerausweis or citizen identity. The system uses authenticated access via the national eID infrastructure. The FL-eID is Liechtenstein's digital identity credential for accessing government online services.
How to get it: Register at eservice.llv.li. You will need your Ausländerausweis, Gemeinde registration confirmation, and a verified email address. Identity verification may require a visit to a Gemeinde office for initial activation. Once activated, accessible on desktop and mobile.
E-Government Portal
https://eservice.llv.liLiechtenstein's eGovernment infrastructure (eservice.llv.li) is relatively advanced for its tiny size. Many processes that used to require in-person visits can now be initiated or tracked online. However, given the small scale of the administration, in-person visits to offices in Vaduz are often still the fastest route for complex matters. German is the language of all official digital services.

Liechtenstein's digital services are a blend of its own infrastructure and Swiss systems. The country uses Swiss postal, payment (TWINT), and banking infrastructure for everyday transactions. Official government services (permits, tax, social insurance) use the Liechtenstein eservice.llv.li portal. Internet connectivity is excellent — fibre coverage through Telecom Liechtenstein. The country is highly digitised at the business level (financial services, precision manufacturing) but its small population means some consumer-facing digital services (e.g., food delivery apps, ride-hailing) are absent or available only through cross-border providers.
