Marshall Islands (MH)

Authority: No single national equivalency body. Recognition is handled by the hiring institution (College of the Marshall Islands — cmi.edu — for academic roles, relevant ministry for government positions, or employer). US-style WES or other foreign credential evaluation services may be accepted where requested.

Process: Submit certified copies of degree certificate, transcripts, and course descriptions to the relevant institution or employer. US-accredited qualifications are most readily assessed. Non-US qualifications may require a third-party credential evaluation (WES, ECE, or equivalent) for positions requiring formal equivalency assessment. Apply to College of the Marshall Islands for academic admissions.

Equivalency service: No national ENIC/NARIC equivalent. For positions requiring formal credential evaluation, use recognised US-based credential evaluation services (WES at wes.org, or ECE at ece.org). Employers and donors in the development/NGO sector may have their own credential assessment requirements.

Apostille: The Marshall Islands is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention (acceded 14 August 1992). Foreign official documents (degrees, police clearances, civil documents) from other Hague Convention member countries may be apostilled for acceptance in the RMI. Obtain the apostille from the competent authority in the issuing country.

Legalisation: For documents from countries not party to the Hague Apostille Convention: full consular legalisation may be required — authentication by the issuing country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then by the RMI Embassy or nearest diplomatic mission. The RMI has limited diplomatic presence abroad — contact the RMI Embassy in Washington D.C. for guidance on specific legalisation chains.

Sworn translation: English is the official language of the RMI. Documents in English are accepted without translation. Non-English documents must be translated into English by a certified professional translator. The translation must be accompanied by the translator's credentials and a declaration of accuracy. No central registry of sworn translators exists — use reputable certified translators.
