Restricted Breeds
Plus Check airline, housing and municipality restrictions for large or guard breeds before travel
💰 Costs
Budget EUR 200-1,500+ depending origin, airline crate, vet certificates, titer testing if required by route, cargo handling and pet relocation agent support.
🐕 Dog Tax / Registration
No national annual dog registration tax. Municipalities, buildings and landlords may have pet rules or fees.
Register with a local vet soon after arrival. Tirana has the widest choice of English-speaking clinics; coastal towns can be more seasonal.
📋 Relocation Process
Microchip first, then rabies vaccination, then obtain official veterinary export certificate from origin country. Check airline crate rules and entry paperwork. If travelling onward to the EU, plan EU-compliant rabies/titer timing separately.
Pet-friendly rentals are not automatic. Get written permission before signing a lease or shipping pets, and check summer heat risks for flights and coastal housing.
