Sports & Leisure
Israel has a strong sports culture with excellent outdoor infrastructure. Football (soccer), basketball (Maccabi Tel Aviv is a European powerhouse), hiking, cycling, swimming, and tennis are most popular. Mediterranean lifestyle means outdoor exercise year-round is easy.

Israel has 10,000+ km of marked hiking trails (Israel National Trail is 1,000 km from Eilat to Dan). Mediterranean beaches are public and free. Yarkon Park (Tel Aviv) has running tracks, cycling paths, and sports facilities. Carmel National Park (Haifa). Sea of Galilee and Jordan River for water sports.
Municipal pools (Breichat Shechiya — בריכת שחייה) in major cities. Tel Aviv has multiple public pools. Herzliya beach pools. Entry: NIS 30–60/session. Summer outdoor pools open May–October.
Volunteering
Volunteering (Hitnadvut — התנדבות) has deep cultural roots in Israeli society. From IDF veterans to immigrant integration, Israel has extensive volunteer programmes. New immigrants are welcome and many organizations specifically recruit English speakers.
Tax Benefit
No direct tax deduction for volunteer time. Donations to registered non-profits (Amutot) with special tax status (Section 46 recognition) are tax deductible up to 30% of income.
