Valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned stay. Bring the original and at least 3 certified copies. Mozambican authorities frequently request copies for residence permit, work permit, and banking applications.

Required for residence permit applications, marriage registration in Mozambique and school enrolment for children. Mozambique is NOT a member of the Hague Apostille Convention; foreign birth certificates must be authenticated through the full consular chain: notarisation in the country of origin → home country Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation → Mozambican Embassy/Consulate in the home country → Mozambique MFNEC (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) attestation in Maputo. Required for family-based residence permits, dependant work authorisations and joint bank account opening. Professional recognition bodies: CRM (Conselho de Medicina de Moçambique) for medicine; Ordem dos Advogados de Moçambique for law; relevant ministry for engineering and architecture. Required for residence permit (DIRE/SENAMI), work permit and some professional licences. Must be recent — typically no older than 3 months at the time of application. Mozambique is NOT a Hague Apostille member; foreign police clearances must be authenticated by the Mozambican Embassy/Consulate in the issuing country rather than by apostille. Required for the employer-sponsored work authorisation (Autorização de Exercício de Actividade). Must be on company letterhead, signed, and may need notarisation in Mozambique.

Signed lease agreement or accommodation letter from employer. Required for residence permit registration with DIRE. Lease should be registered with the tax authority (ATM) for full validity.

Certificate of good health from a licensed doctor. Required for some residence permit categories and for obtaining a Mozambican driving licence. Some international school admissions require medical records.

Your home country driving licence. International Driving Permits (IDP) are recommended for short-term stays. For long-term residence, a Mozambican licence must be obtained — some nationalities can exchange, others need a test.

Required for some residence permit categories (independent investor, retiree/pensioner permit) as proof of sufficient financial means. International bank statements may need apostille and certified translation.

Rabies vaccination certificate, microchip record, international pet health certificate endorsed by a government veterinarian, and import permit from DINAP (Direcção Nacional de Pecuária). Required for bringing pets into Mozambique.

Previous employer references useful for work permit applications and senior professional roles. A Curriculum Vitae (CV) in Portuguese or bilingual is standard in Mozambique's formal job market.
