January Checklist
Actions to take each January when new rates take effect.
- 1
Check the BCV rate at bcv.org.ve — ~VES 540+ per USD as of May 2026; update all VES financial projections.
- 2
Verify the current UT value at seniat.gob.ve — UT is Bs. 43.00 since June 2025; this drives ISLR bracket thresholds.
- 3
Confirm Cestaticket obligation has been updated to reflect the latest CENDAS monthly rate.
- 4
Check whether any presidential minimum wage decree has been issued — affects IVSS contribution bases.
- 5
Verify SAIME fee schedule if a residence permit or cédula renewal is due.
- 6
Review SENIAT obligations: IVA filing schedule, ISLR estimated payments, IGTF compliance.
- 7
Review OFAC SDN list for any new Venezuelan entities if you have business relationships.
- 8
Confirm medical evacuation insurance is renewed and covers Venezuela.
- 9
Update USD emergency fund target — local USD price levels track the parallel rate, not BCV.

Venezuela's regulatory environment changes without advance notice via presidential decree or SENIAT administrative resolution. The BCV official rate (bcv.org.ve) is the legally required rate for most transactions, but actual market rates may differ significantly — track both. The UT raised to Bs. 43.00 in June 2025 drives all UT-denominated thresholds: at current exchange rates 1,000 UT ≈ USD 80, making ISLR thresholds extremely low in USD terms. Critical decisions require consultation with a Venezuelan abogado and contador público.
