👶 Childcare & Kindergarten
Government-run CEI (Centros de Educación Inicial) are free but have limited capacity and variable quality. Private jardines de infancia and preescolares in expat areas of Caracas charge USD 150–500/month depending on facilities and quality.
Public CEI: registration at local MPPE (Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Educación) administrative office. Private: direct application to the school with birth certificate, vaccination record, and parents' ID documents.
Apply directly to each school. AISC (American International School of Caracas) and Colegio Internacional de Caracas have structured early years programmes. Applications open September/October for the following academic year starting in September.
🏫 Schools
Registration at the nearest public school or MPPE zone office. Required documents: birth certificate, vaccination card, proof of address, parent ID. The school year runs September to July with a December–January break.
Automatic progression from primary school or registration at the nearest liceo through MPPE. Private secondary schools charge USD 200–800/month. International schools charge USD 700–1,500/month.
🌍 International Schools
Caracas has several international schools. Escuela Campo Alegre (ECA, ecak12.com) — the US Embassy-assisted school, American/IB curriculum, Pre-K to Grade 12, operating in 2026 and accepting applications for 2026-27; contact admissions for current USD fees. Colegio Internacional de Caracas (CIC, cic-caracas.com) — IB World School (MYP and Diploma); fees in USD — contact admissions. The British School Caracas (tbscaracas.com) — British curriculum. Caracas also has French, German, Italian, and Jewish-community schools. Given Venezuela's economic instability and dollarised fee structures, verify current operating status, fee amounts, and payment mechanisms directly with each school before relocating. All charge fees in USD.
🎓 University
Public universities: admission via CNU (Consejo Nacional de Universidades) national exam system (OPSU). Private universities: direct application with Bachillerato certificate, grades, and entrance exam. Foreign qualifications must be recognised by CNU/MPPE before admission.
🗣️ Language Courses
The most reputable language institute in Venezuela. Offers English courses for Venezuelans and Spanish courses for expats. Multiple locations in Caracas (Las Mercedes, Chacaíto). Certificates from CVA are recognised nationally for employment purposes.
Affiliated with British Council standards. Well-regarded for English language teaching. IELTS preparation courses available.
Official French language and culture institute. DELF/DALF examination centre. Located in Altamira, Caracas.
German language and cultural institution in Caracas. Goethe-Zertifikat exam centre.
