Formal employees in mainland Tanzania are usually covered by NSSF in the private sector or PSSSF in public-sector contexts. Employers remit a total 20% contribution and may recover part from employees. Coverage for expats depends on lawful employment, payroll registration, and contribution history.

NSSF states employers remit 20% of gross salary as a joint contribution; the employee share should not exceed 10%. Contributions are due within one month after salary payment.
Tanzania has limited social-security totalization compared with EU systems. Check your home-country pension rules separately before moving.
