Budget THB 10,000-60,000+ per pet for vet documents, permit support, airline crate, cargo/baggage fees, broker help, and arrival handling.
🐕 Dog Tax / Registration
No national dog tax, but condos, villages, and municipalities can impose registration, vaccination, leash, nuisance, or breed rules.
Register with an English-speaking vet soon after arrival. Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Hua Hin, and Samui have expat-friendly clinics.
📋 Relocation Process
Start 6-10 weeks before travel. Confirm airline route and heat embargoes, microchip, rabies vaccination, export health certificate, Thai import permit, airline crate rules, and arrival inspection at the Animal Quarantine Station.
Thailand is pet-friendly in houses and some condos, but many condos ban pets or restrict size. Get pet permission written into the lease and check airline heat-season policies before paying deposits.
