Restricted Breeds

Bangladesh does not publish a national banned-breeds list. Wolf hybrids, Savannah cats, and Bengal cats (unless 5+ generations removed from wild pedigree) cannot be imported.

Plus Airline and building/housing rules may impose additional breed or size restrictions.

📋 Relocation Process

1. Implant ISO 11784/11785 microchip. 2. Vaccinate for rabies at least 30 days before travel. 3. Obtain veterinary health certificate from a licensed vet in the origin country, then have it endorsed by the government animal health authority (two originals required). 4. Apply for a No Objection Certificate (NOC/import permit) from the Bangladesh Department of Livestock Services using the endorsed certificate copy; allow several weeks processing time. 5. Book airline cargo — pets travel as checked baggage or air cargo only (not in cabin) via Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka. No other entry port is permitted. 6. Present all original documents at customs on arrival; expect up to 21 days of home quarantine from arrival date. Start the full process at least 4–6 months before travel.

Bangladesh heat, ticks, street dogs, limited emergency veterinary capacity, and apartment pet restrictions make advance planning essential. Avoid importing brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds during hot months. Budget for the mandatory home quarantine period in your housing and work plans.
