Since 2022, Visa and Mastercard have suspended operations with Belarusian banks. Foreign-issued bank cards from most Western countries (EU, UK, US, Canada, Australia, Japan, Switzerland) will not work in Belarus at any ATM or payment terminal. SWIFT bank transfers from most Western banks are also severely restricted. The Mir payment system (Russian) and UnionPay (Chinese) work in Belarus for compatible cards.

Foreigners staying in Belarus for more than 10 calendar days must register at their residential address. Registration options in 2026: (1) hotel — automatic on check-in; (2) host registration through e-pasluga.by — online within 3 days of arrival at the address; (3) MIA (Ministry of Internal Affairs) office — in person; (4) Citizen Service Centre (ЦОП). Some nationalities have different exemption periods — always verify for your passport.
⚡ Unregistered stays beyond the threshold are an administrative offence. The violation appears on your migration record and can cause permit denial and border complications for years.
