How to call emergency services in Chile
All emergency numbers (131 ambulance, 132 fire, 133 police) work from any mobile phone without credit or SIM card. Chile has no single nationwide emergency number for landlines; on mobile networks 911 has been rolled out as an alternative unified emergency line in some regions, but the three-digit numbers remain the primary, universally recognised services and are the most reliable to use. Carabineros (133) handles police, traffic accidents, and general emergency coordination. SAMU (131) is the ambulance emergency medical service. Bomberos (132) covers fire and rescue. For non-urgent Carabineros matters, visit the nearest comisaría or call the non-emergency line.
