US citizens: Colombia has no active US tax treaty — this certificate is less useful for Americans but may still be needed for state tax purposes.

Tip: In Bogotá, SITP regular buses do not accept cash — you must have a TuLlave card. Buy it at any TransMilenio station. Tip: Photographic fines (comparendos fotográficos) from speed cameras can accumulate without you knowing — check SIMIT every few months. Many fines are issued by camera and you receive no physical notice. SIMIT also shows alcohol-related and other moving violation records. Outstanding SIMIT fines will prevent you from renewing your licence, passing Tecnomecánica, or selling your vehicle.

Highly underutilised by expats who don't know about it. The housing subsidy (VIS/VIP) for CCF members can reach 20 SMMLV (~COP $35,018,100) toward a first home purchase. Ask your employer which CCF they contribute to.
