National Employment Centre

Most foreign hires are employer-led through a work permit route. Jobseekers should maintain CV, qualifications, police clearance, medical and reference documents before the employer lodges permit material.

💼 Work Permits

EU Citizens

EU citizens have no special work rights in Fiji. They need the same work, investor, student or residence permit route as other non-citizens.

Non-EU Citizens

Non-citizens need a valid permit before working. Fiji Immigration lists work permits, investor permits, student permits, assured-income residence and business visitor categories.

EU Blue Card

Fiji has no EU Blue Card equivalent; skilled employment is handled through Fiji work permits and employer sponsorship.

Freelancer Visa

There is no dedicated digital-nomad visa. Freelance or remote-work cases need careful permit and tax advice, especially if clients, bank accounts or business activity connect to Fiji.

⏱️ Work Culture

Typical hours Office hours are often 8am-5pm Monday-Friday; retail, hospitality, security and transport use shifts. National minimum wage is FJD 5.00/hour from 1 April 2025.

Annual leave The Employment Relations Act provides baseline annual holiday rights, with more generous terms possible in contracts and collective agreements.

Sick leave Sick leave is governed by employment law and contract/sector rules; keep medical certificates because payroll teams may require them.

Trial period Probation is contract-driven and should be written clearly in the offer or employment agreement.

Notice period Notice depends on contract, award and employment law. Foreign workers also need permit cancellation/departure timing aligned with Immigration.

Salary range Local wages are lower than Australia/New Zealand; expat packages often compensate with housing, school, transport, medical and relocation allowances.

Pay frequency Weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll all exist; PAYE and FNPF are normally handled by the employer.
