International Social Security Agreements
South Africa does not offer broad EU-style social-security totalisation for expat retirement. Foreign state pensions depend on home-country rules and tax treaty treatment.
Temporary residents should build private emergency funds, medical aid, income protection and repatriation plans rather than relying on public benefits.
