Required for gemeente registration, opening a bank account, and most official processes. Non-EU nationals must hold a valid passport. EU nationals may use their national ID card.
Required for registering with the BRP (Personal Records Database), marriage, and some visa applications. Must be an official extract from your country of birth.
Required for registering your partner in the BRP, some residence permits, and family reunification applications.
Required for gemeente registration and BSN application. An official signed rental contract, landlord's written permission, or property purchase deed.
Required for residence permit applications, bank account opening at some banks, and tax registrations.
Required for academic qualification recognition (Nuffic / DUO), Highly Skilled Migrant visa applications and regulated profession licensing. For healthcare roles, registration in the BIG-register (Beroepen in de Individuele Gezondheidszorg) is required; for other regulated professions, the relevant professional body handles recognition. Netherlands is a Hague Apostille member; apostille and certified Dutch translation required for non-Dutch originals.

📜 What is an Apostille?
An apostille is an official certification that validates a document for international use. It is issued by a designated authority in the country where the document was issued (usually a court or government office). Required for documents from Hague Convention member states.
🌍 Certified Translations
Certified translations must be done by a sworn/authorised translator. In Netherlands, only translations by officially registered translators are accepted by government offices. Keep originals — they may be returned after verification.
