💼 Work Permits
EU citizens do not have EU free-movement rights in Russia. They need the same Russian immigration/work authorisation analysis as other non-EAEU nationals.
Most foreign nationals need a work permit and work visa or a residence status that allows work. Visa-free CIS nationals often use a patent system. Employers carry heavy compliance responsibility.
Russia has no EU Blue Card. The closest skilled route is Highly Qualified Specialist (HQS), commonly tied to a salary threshold of RUB 750,000 per quarter for most roles, with category exceptions.
There is no simple Western-style freelancer/digital nomad visa. Self-employment, IP status and local contracts require tax, immigration and payment planning.
