Payment Culture
Finland is among the world's most cashless societies. Debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are accepted virtually everywhere — including market stalls, taxis, and small shops. Contactless payment is ubiquitous. Mobile pay apps (MobilePay, Pivo, Apple Pay, Google Pay) are widely used. Cash is increasingly rare and many venues are card-only. Bank transfers (via online banking) are the standard for larger payments like rent. OP-Siirto and Siirto instant payment are used between individuals.
ATM Tips
ATMs (pankkiautomaatti) are available at banks, shopping centres, petrol stations, and transport hubs. Most accept international Visa/Mastercard. Foreign card fees: typically €2–5 per withdrawal. Nordea and OP ATMs most common. Note that many Finnish venues do not accept cash at all — rely primarily on your card.

Finland uses the Euro — no currency exchange needed within the Eurozone. For transferring money internationally, use Wise or Revolut for best rates. Bank wire transfers in Finland are free for SEPA (EU) destinations. Avoid airport exchange desks.
