Visa-Free Access

EU/EEA citizens do not need a visa to enter Finland and can live and work freely. Citizens of Switzerland, the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and many other countries can enter Finland visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period (Schengen rules). Finland is part of the Schengen Area — a visa to Finland is valid for the whole Schengen Zone (26 countries). All non-EU residence permit applications go through Migri (Finnish Immigration Service — migri.fi). Processing times have improved since 2022 but can still be slow for complex cases — always apply well before your current visa/permit expires.
