Pakistan (PK)
Pakistan is South Asia's second-largest country and a land of extraordinary contrasts — from the towering Karakoram peaks in the north to the bustling port city of Karachi on the Arabian Sea.
Visa & Immigration
Entry and residence options for Pakistan.
✈️ Visa-Free Access
Pakistan requires most foreign nationals to hold an e-Visa obtained in advance through the Pakistan Online Visa System (POVS). Citizens of a small number of countries (including China, Malaysia, Turkey, UAE, and Saudi Arabia) have visa-free or simplified entry arrangements. The Visa Prior to Arrival (VPA) and Visa on Arrival (VOA) programmes, which previously gave eligible nationals from 126 countries fast-track or on-arrival access, were suspended effective 1 January 2026 — the e-Visa through POVS (visa.nadra.gov.pk) is now the standard route for most nationalities. GCC states (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar) retain visa-free or VOA access. Check the latest position at the Pakistan Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (dgip.gov.pk).
Use the Pakistan Online Visa System (visa.nadra.gov.pk) for all visa applications; the VPA and VOA programmes were suspended in 2026 and the e-Visa is now the standard route for most nationalities. Visa category, employer sector, city, and nationality all affect processing times, police/security registration requirements, and any BOI clearances needed. Police registration may be required within 30 days of arrival for some nationalities — check with the local Foreigner Registration Office (FRO). Keep copies of all approvals, entry stamps, and permit documents. Overstaying your visa is a serious offence.
