Public Transport Overview

Yerevan has metro, buses, minibuses and taxis. Public transport is cheap but route information can be inconsistent; ride-hailing and navigation apps are the easiest newcomer bridge.

Regional towns and villages

💡 Often depart when full rather than on schedule; ask locals for current departure points from Yerevan's central bus stations (Kilikia, Barekamutyun).

Taxi & Rideshare

Taxis are abundant. Use Yandex Go, GG or similar apps for transparent pricing; street taxis can overcharge newcomers.

Yandex Go, GG Taxi and Utaxi are widely used in Yerevan. App availability is weaker in remote regions.

Cycling

Cycling infrastructure is improving but still limited. Yerevan traffic, hills and winter weather make defensive cycling essential.

Intercity Trains

Rail options are limited but useful for selected routes, including Yerevan-Gyumri and seasonal/international connections where operating. Most intercity travel is by car, minibus or taxi.

Driving

Driving is on the right. Speed limits: 60 km/h urban, 90 km/h inter-urban roads, 110 km/h motorways. Road quality, aggressive manoeuvres, snow/ice and animal hazards require caution in mountainous regions.

Airports

Zvartnots International Airport (EVN) is the main gateway, 12 km from Yerevan. Shirak Airport (LWN) near Gyumri handles limited routes.
