Visa & Immigration
Entry and residence options for Paraguay.
✈️ Visa-Free Access
Many EU, UK, US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Latin American passport holders can enter visa-free for short tourist stays, often up to 90 days. Mercosur and associated nationals often enter with national ID and have simplified residence pathways. Always verify by nationality before travel.
Paraguay changed its migration framework through Law 6984/2022. The old instant-permanent-residence reputation is outdated: most applicants now start with temporary residence before permanent residence. Use the DNM website for current forms and do not let temporary residence expire without filing the change-of-category request.
