Curaçao is a multilingual island where Papiamentu, Dutch, English, and Spanish are all widely spoken. For daily expat life in tourism, finance, and international business, English is fully sufficient. Dutch is required for government employment, teaching, and legal matters. Papiamentu — Curaçao's unique Creole language blending Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, African languages, and Arawak — is the mother tongue of most Curaçaoans and the key to genuine cultural integration.
