Visa-Free Access

All Kingdom of the Netherlands nationals (Dutch passport, Aruban, Sint Maartener), EU/EEA nationals (90 days visa-free for tourism/visits — residence/work permission required for residence), US citizens (90 days), Canadian citizens (90 days), UK citizens (90 days), Australian citizens (90 days), and many other nationalities. Every visitor must complete the Digital Immigration Card and must not exceed the visitor-stay conditions. Curaçao is NOT part of the EU or Schengen Area — it is an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Immigratiedienst Curaçao (immigrationcur.org) publishes current residence, work, self-employment, family, and tourist rules. Passport control applies at Hato Airport (CUR) for all arrivals including from other Kingdom territories. Keep your permit valid at all times and maintain a clear distinction between visitor permission and local work permission.

Short Stay (Tourist Entry)

Eligibility

Nationals of countries with visa-free access to Curaçao for short stays (tourism, family visits, transit). All others require a short-stay visa from the nearest Dutch Embassy/Consulate.

💡 Short-stay visitors may NOT perform paid work for a Curaçao resident or Curaçao-established entity. Visitor stays are generally capped at 90 nights per visit and 180 days per calendar year — work and residence require the proper VVA permit route.

VVA — Residence and/or Work Permit

Vergunning voor Verblijf en/of Arbeid (VVA)

Eligibility

All non-Dutch, non-Kingdom nationals who wish to live and/or work in Curaçao. EU citizens also require a VVA — Curaçao is not part of the EU.

💡 A self-employed route generally requires a business permit, Chamber of Commerce registration, Labour Register registration, and a residence permit. Do not start client work before the permit purpose allows it.

Foreign nationals with specialist skills recruited by a Curaçao employer at a salary above the threshold (approximately XCG 6,500/month gross in 2026; verify with Immigratiedienst Curaçao).

Curaçao does not offer a dedicated digital nomad visa as of 2026.
