Public Transport Overview

Andorra has a public bus system (Cooperativa Interurbana Andorrana) connecting all 7 parishes. Taxi & Rideshare

Rideshare (Long-distance)

Uber operates in Andorra la Vella; Bolt does not operate in Andorra. BlaBlaCar is used for cross-border rides to Barcelona and Toulouse — popular among residents commuting to Spain/France. A local WhatsApp-based rideshare community exists among expats (ask at local expat groups). The small size of Andorra means most destinations are reachable by public bus or on foot.

Cycling

Cycling infrastructure is limited but growing. Andorra la Vella valley bottom has a dedicated cycle path along the Gran Valira river. Mountain biking is world-class — Vallnord Bike Park and Grandvalira Bike Park offer lift-served downhill trails in summer. Road cycling is popular on Pyrenean passes (Col d'Envalira — highest road pass in the Pyrenees at 2,408m). Electric bikes (e-bikes) are available for hire from several shops. Note: Andorra's terrain is steep and challenging for everyday cycling — e-bikes strongly recommended for daily use.

Intercity Trains

Andorra has no railway — the terrain makes rail construction impractical. The nearest railway stations are: Lleida-Pirineus station (Spain, ~2 hours by bus — RENFE connections to Barcelona/Madrid), L'Hospitalet de l'Infant (Catalonia, ~3 hours), Ax-les-Thermes (France, ~1 hour — SNCF connections to Toulouse). Most residents use coach buses or private cars to access rail networks.

Driving

Private car is the most practical transport for Andorra. Roads are well-maintained but mountain roads can be narrow and steep. Speed limits: 40 km/h in Andorra la Vella and urban areas, 90 km/h on national roads. Mountain roads follow Andorran traffic signs (similar to French/Spanish). Winter tyres or snow chains mandatory from November 1 to April 15 on mountain roads. The CG2 (main road to Spain via Sant Julià) and CG3 (to France via Envalira) are the main arteries. Border crossings with France (Pas de la Casa / L'Hospitalet) and Spain (Sant Julià de Lòria / La Seu d'Urgell) operate 24/7 but can have queues during peak shopping periods.

Airports

Andorra has no commercial airport. Nearest airports: Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN) — 3 hours by bus, largest international hub; Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS) — 3 hours by bus; Reus Airport (REU) — 3.5 hours; Lleida-Alguaire Airport (ILD) — 2 hours (limited scheduled routes). Heliport in Andorra la Vella offers helicopter charters to Barcelona and Nice. For frequent flyers, the Barcelona or Toulouse bus service is the standard route.
