Digital Services
Digital ID, e-government and essential apps in Indonesia.
IKD (Identitas Kependudukan Digital) / KTP-el
Indonesia's national digital ID system. KTP-el (electronic KTP — Kartu Tanda Penduduk) is the physical smart card ID for Indonesian citizens. IKD is the digital version launched 2022–2023, stored on mobile phone. For expats: KITAS serves as the legal identity document equivalent. Some government services increasingly accept digital identity verification via SIAK (Sistem Informasi Administrasi Kependudukan).
How to get it: Indonesian citizens: IKD app via Dukcapil (Dinas Kependudukan dan Pencatatan Sipil). Expats: KITAS is your ID — carried digitally via imigrasi.go.id portal login or physical KITAS card.
E-Government Portal
https://www.indonesia.go.idIndonesian government digital services are rapidly expanding but inconsistently implemented. Key portals like imigrasi.go.id and djponline.pajak.go.id are reliable. Some services require in-person follow-up despite online initiation. English-language interfaces are limited — most government portals are Indonesian only. Using a licensed agent for complex applications (KITAS, PT PMA) remains advisable.
