Microchip, vaccines, and health certificate: GBP 150–400+ before travel. Tapeworm treatment, ferry or airline cargo fees, and titer test for pets from unlisted countries add significant cost. Emergency quarantine costs fall on the importer.
📋 Relocation Process
1. Microchip first (ISO 11784/11785). 2. Vaccinate for rabies (after microchipping). 3. Wait the required period — 21 days from EU/listed countries; 30 days from unlisted countries. 4. For pets from unlisted countries: arrange FAVN/RNATT titre test at an approved laboratory at least 30 days after vaccination, then wait 3 calendar months before entry is permitted. 5. Obtain the correct Animal Health Certificate (or equivalent travel document) from a licensed and government-authorised vet. 6. For dogs: arrange tapeworm treatment 1–5 days before arrival (not needed from Great Britain, Finland, Ireland, Malta, or Norway). 7. Pets travelling directly from Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) face no additional animal health requirements.
The Animal Welfare Act 2023 (Isle of Man) is in force — owners must meet all welfare needs including during travel, housing moves, and hospital stays. Free movement of pets exists between the Isle of Man and Great Britain with no additional health certification required. For all other origin countries, timing of vaccination, titre testing, and tapeworm treatment must be planned carefully in advance.
