E-Government Portal

https://www.gov.jm

Jamaica's e-government services have improved significantly but are not as seamless as some European digital-government systems. Many processes still require in-person visits for document submission or biometric verification. TAJ online tax filing is reliable and well-used. Allow extra time for government website outages during peak periods. Some services work best on desktop browsers.

Works well in Jamaica for major roads and towns. Some rural roads and addresses may be imprecise. Waze is also popular with local drivers for real-time traffic.

Mobile internet (4G LTE) coverage is good in Kingston, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and major towns. Rural coverage can be patchy, especially in the Blue Mountains and deep rural areas. FLOW and Digicel both offer data plans. Fixed broadband (fibre) is expanding in urban areas. Power outages can interrupt internet service — consider a mobile data plan as backup. VPN is legal and useful for streaming services with geo-restrictions.
