Belize is the only English-speaking country in Central America, making it uniquely accessible for English-speaking expats. However, daily life in Belize also involves Belizean Kriol (an English-based creole), Spanish (widely spoken in northern and western districts), Garifuna (spoken in southern communities), and several Maya languages. Learning at least basic Spanish is highly practical for integration in Cayo, Orange Walk, and Corozal Districts. Understanding Kriol phrases will dramatically improve social integration across Belize.
