Gibraltar offers a compact but surprisingly rich sports and leisure scene, largely organised through sports clubs and the Royal Gibraltar Sports Complex. Given the territory's small size, most sports facilities are within walking distance. The Mediterranean climate (300+ sunny days) enables outdoor activities year-round. Gibraltar is also a gateway to the outdoor activities of the Campo de Gibraltar region — hiking, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and golf are 15–45 minutes away in Spain.

The Upper Rock Nature Reserve offers world-class hiking and cycling with extraordinary views. The Eastern Beach and Catalan Bay provide swimming and beach activities. The Royal Gibraltar Sports Complex has a public swimming pool. The beaches (Eastern Beach, Catalan Bay) are free and open to all. Water temperature ranges from 16°C in winter to 26°C in summer. The RGYC (Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club) operates from the marina.
