🏛️ Social Contributions
Gibraltar Social Insurance Office contributions. Weekly insurable earnings ceiling: £617.59/week (2026). Funds: Old Age Pension, unemployment benefit, sickness benefit. UK NI years count under UK-Gibraltar reciprocal agreement.
Self-employed persons pay combined employee + employer rate (20%) on net profit. Paid quarterly to the SIO.
🛒 VAT Rates
Gibraltar has NO VAT (Value Added Tax) and no sales tax. This is one of Gibraltar's most significant practical advantages — no VAT on any goods or services including groceries, electronics, alcohol, professional services, or real estate transactions.

🌍 Special Expat Tax Rules
Category 2 (HNWI) status: available to high-net-worth individuals. Fixed minimum tax of £44,000/year (2026) regardless of global income level. Income is taxed only on Gibraltar-sourced income (territorial system) — overseas income and foreign assets are not taxable in Gibraltar. No capital gains tax, no inheritance tax, no wealth tax, no gift tax. Corporation tax: flat 10%.
📋 Double Tax Treaties
Gibraltar has double taxation agreements with: UK (comprehensive DTA, in force 2020), Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Mauritius, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Sweden, and others. No DTA with USA, Germany, France, or Spain. US citizens must still comply with FATCA/FBAR obligations regardless of Gibraltar residence.
